Not afraid of the United States warning North Korea to go its own way and declare that it will solemnly commemorate the Army Day.

CCTV News:No.3 Labor News, the organ newspaper of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea, published an article saying that North Korea will solemnly commemorate the Army Day this year.

The article said that February 8 this year marks the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Korean People’s Army. The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea made a decision last month to set February 8 as the Army Day of the Korean People’s Army, and said that relevant commemorative activities will be held every year.

The article said that celebrating the Army Day is the unanimous idea of the Korean military and civilians, and no one has the right to comment on it. It has become a common practice and common sense that no matter which country in the world attaches importance to the founding day of its own army and will hold relevant commemorative activities grandly.

The article said that it was unreasonable for some Korean media and conservatives to make irresponsible remarks about the commemoration of the Korean Army Day.

According to Korean Central News Agency’s previous report, the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea issued a decision on January 22nd to designate February 8th as the Army Day of the Korean People’s Army. The report said that February 8, 1948 was the day when the birth of the Korean People’s Army was announced. The Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers’ Party of Korea made the above decision to carry forward the revolutionary achievements of Kim Il Sung, the founder and builder of the Korean People’s Army.

North Korea suddenly changed the Army Day to Pyeongchang Winter Olympics. Senior US official: No military parade

On January 31st, US Deputy Secretary of State Steven goldstein said that the United States hoped that North Korea would not hold a military parade on February 8th, the day before the opening of the PyeongChang Winter Olympics. He also said that any American citizen who goes to this Winter Olympics can rest assured that South Korea has deployed a comprehensive security system, and the US government is giving support to South Korea in this regard.

An official of the the State Council Diplomatic Security Bureau said that about 100 US security personnel will be deployed at the US Embassy in South Korea and the Winter Olympics. American officials also said that they have not noticed any special threats at present and believe that South Korea has the ability to ensure the safety of the Winter Olympics. The 23rd Winter Olympic Games will be held in Pyeongchang, South Korea from February 9 to 25. North Korea previously announced that February 8 will be designated as the Army Day of the Korean People’s Army.

40 years later, the Korean Army Day was changed back to February 8.

North Korea announced on January 23rd that the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, the Workers’ Party of Korea, decided to set February 8th every year as the founding day of the Korean People’s Army, that is, the Army Day, and set April 25th as the founding day of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army, the predecessor of the People’s Army. This is North Korea’s rescheduling of the Army Day to February 8 after a lapse of 40 years.

The Korean Central News Agency reported that the Political Bureau of the Central Committee, the Workers’ Party of Korea, issued a decision on the 22nd, saying that the two anniversaries were set up "to carry forward the revolutionary achievements of Comrade Kim Il Sung, the founder and builder of the Korean People’s Army".

The late Korean president Kim Il Sung formed an anti-Japanese guerrilla on April 25th, 1932, and later developed into the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army. According to the decision, this is the first revolutionary armed force formed by Kim Il Sung. On February 8, 1948, Kim Il Sung formed the Korean People’s Army with thousands of cadres and soldiers who participated in the armed struggle against Japan and passed the test of revolutionary struggle as the backbone. It is the direct successor of the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army. The decision stated that Kim Il Sung strengthened and developed the Korean People’s Revolutionary Army into a regular revolutionary armed force and announced the birth of the Korean People’s Army.

The decision requires that party organizations at all levels in North Korea invest in political and ideological education and various activities on February 8 every year, and the cabinet and other relevant departments take concrete measures to commemorate the Army Day.
