Official announcement! Lantu’s new SUV is named ＂Lantu Friend＂
On June 21, Lantu Automobile officially announced that its new pure electric medium-sized SUV H37 (internal code name) was officially named "Lantu Zhiyin". Combined with previous news, the new car is positioned lower than Lantu FREE, becoming a new entry-level product of Lantu Automobile, and will also become the only model under Lantu Automobile to provide pure electric drive. At present, Lantu Zhiyin has completed the application at MIIT and is expected to make its debut at the 2024 Chengdu Auto Show and be listed within the year.
A simple review of the appearance, different from previous models, Arashi will provide two kinds of front face shape, the main difference is the grille, one uses the same color as the body closed grille design, the overall visual effect is relatively simple, the other uses concave treatment, the interior is arranged in a matrix of luminous Arashi logo. In addition, the two different design versions of the headlight group, front bumper and other positions are consistent, both provide through-type LED light strip, the headlights on both sides are very slender, and still equipped with light sources in the fog lamp area.
On the side of the car body, the Lantu bosom friend adopts a hidden door handle, and the lines below the door panel draw on the style of Lantu’s chasing light. At the rear part of the car, it is equipped with a through light strip. The internal structure of the tail light group is the same as that of Lantu’s chasing light. The diffuser shape is added to the rear surround. In terms of size, the length, width and height are 4725/1900/1636 (1653) mm, and the wheelbase is 2900mm. It is positioned as a medium-sized SUV. As a reference, the length, width and height of the Lantu FREE are 4905/1950/1645mm, and the wheelbase is 2960mm.
In terms of interior decoration, according to previous spy photos, Landscape’s confidant is expected to be equipped with a large-size floating central control screen. In addition, the front armrest adopts a layered design, with a wireless charging panel above and a storage area below. Overall, the space utilization rate is still quite high.
In terms of power, Lantu’s confidant has declared a total of 6 versions, corresponding to different appearance, power and battery types. Among them, the maximum power of the motors before and after the four-wheel drive version is 160 kWh, which matches the lithium iron phosphate battery provided by Ningde Times. The battery capacity is 76.9 kWh/77.3 kWh, and the comprehensive working condition cruising range is 570 kilometers. The two-wheel drive version is equipped with the same specification battery, the maximum power of the drive motor is 215 kW, and the comprehensive working condition cruising range is 625 kilometers.
Another front-facing design and power system, the maximum power of the drive motor is 230 kW, which will match the ternary lithium battery pack provided by Ningde Times. The battery capacity is 78.7 kWh and 108.7 kWh, respectively. The corresponding comprehensive operating conditions have a cruising range of 650 kilometers and 901 kilometers, respectively.
According to the application information, Lantu’s confidant will be produced at the Dongfeng Nissan Yunfeng factory at No. 8 Yunfeng Avenue, Junshan Street, Wuhan Economic and Technological Development Zone, Hubei Province. The factory is the production base of Dongfeng Nissan’s pure electric model Ariya. According to this, some media reports said that Dongfeng Nissan will be reduced to a foundry to produce new models for Dongfeng Lantu.
According to public information, the construction name of Yunfeng factory project is Dongfeng Motor Group joint stock company passenger car expansion project, which is currently one of the four most intelligent vehicle production plants under Dongfeng Motor Group. The factory was officially completed and accepted in August 2023. It has the capacity of fuel vehicles, hybrid vehicles, pure electric vehicles and other models, and the annual production capacity can reach 300,000 vehicles. It is understood that Yunfeng factory is not a unique automobile factory of Dongfeng Nissan, and the production models are not limited to joint venture models.
Dongfeng Motor Company insiders said that Dongfeng Nissan is actually renting the factory to produce its models, and Dongfeng Landscape also adopts a similar model. The Yunfeng factory will put into production Dongfeng Landscape’s new SUV, in order to better revitalize the group’s new energy production line and ensure the delivery speed of new cars.
In 2024, Lantu Auto set a sales target of 100,000 vehicles, which doubled compared to 2023. If Lantu Auto wants to achieve this goal, in addition to relying on existing models, new cars also bear important sales tasks. From the market positioning point of view, Lantu’s main competitors will include Tesla Model Y, Xiaopeng G6, Ledao L60, Zhiji LS6 and other models. Among them, Model Y is the best-selling SUV in China. It sold 166,700 vehicles in the first May, second only to BYD Qin PLUS in the domestic market.
As a medium-sized SUV, Lantu Zhiyin needs excellent product strength. It is understood that Lantu Zhiyin will be built by Lantu in cooperation with Huawei, and will be equipped with Huawei’s smart cockpit and smart driving system. In addition, Lantu Zhiyin is the first global car after Let’s VOYAH’s "Common Lantu" sea strategy, and will be sold overseas after listing.
